Sun Valley: Strathern Wetlands Park

The Strathern Wetlands Park Project is an ambitious plan to turn a 46 acre pit in an area known for flooding and dirty industrial activity into a thriving oasis with a mix of active and passive recreational uses.

The concept plan calls for two soccer fields, recreational trails, a 10 acre wetland and a 20 acre water storage pond that will collect 900-acre feet of water annually, enough for 1,800 four-person families.

Once constructed, the Wetlands Park will improve water quality, increase water conservation, provide habitat, and reduce a variety of environmental pollutants.

This showcase project is a partnership between the City and County of Los Angeles.
